My journey began nearly a decade ago as a junior graphic designer at Oranje Printers, based in the Free State. Over three years, I gained invaluable experience in design techniques, honed my attention to detail, and developed a strong appreciation for meeting deadlines in a fast-paced, creative environment. I was promoted to senior designer in my third year, marking a pivotal point in my career. Although I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Oranje, I felt ready to take on bigger challenges and decided to move forward.

While working at Oranje, I proactively broadened my skillset by completing certifications such as A+, N+, MSCP, and an entry-level course in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. These additional skills allowed me to pivot towards the web industry, leading to my next big opportunity. After countless applications, I was thrilled to join Come Alive, a web design company based in Hillcrest, KwaZulu-Natal, as an apprentice.

The two years I spent at Come Alive were transformative. I delved into website design, marketing strategies, and development work, steadily improving my craft. Eventually, I earned the title of Website Designer. When the company dissolved due to internal changes, I decided to seek a more stable opportunity that aligned with my long-term goals.

My next role was with Tech5, a reputable ISP (Internet Service Provider), where I thrived as the lead designer/developer and manager of the design and marketing department. My responsibilities included website management, graphics creation, marketing strategy development, and team leadership, in addition to overseeing server maintenance and client invoicing. My time at Tech5 was invaluable, providing me with extensive technical and managerial experience. By the end of 2022, I decided to embark on a new chapter and focus on my personal and professional growth.

Since leaving Tech5, I have been working for myself, managing every aspect of my business from administration, marketing, quoting, and invoicing to design, development, and client management. This entrepreneurial journey has significantly broadened my skillset and deepened my understanding of what it takes to run a successful business. I have developed a strong sense of independence, self-discipline, and adaptability. During this period, I have continued to excel in design, development, and marketing, working with both established brands and small businesses. I have accomplished a great deal over the past few years, from creating innovative solutions for clients to refining my technical abilities and staying up to date with industry trends. This experience has not only reinforced my confidence in my capabilities but also fueled my passion for delivering exceptional work.

As I look toward 2025 and beyond, one of my key goals is to deepen my knowledge and expertise, particularly in JavaScript and PHP. I am committed to expanding my technical skills to deliver even greater value to my clients and future collaborators.
